Greenville-based Selah Genomics aims to shake up ‘personalized medicine’ market

A Greenville medical technology company wants to shake up the market for “personalized medicine” by selling a service to help colon cancer patients at a price it says is considerably less than rival offerings. Selah Genomics is guaranteeing a seven-day turnaround of its PrecisionPath Colon assay for $975.

The service helps oncologists know which treatment would be most effective for a particular patient, given the genetic makeup of his or her tumor.

The process begins with the doctor sending a sample of the tumor to Selah’s laboratory on the main campus of the Greenville Hospital System. Selah analyzes the DNA in the tumor and makes a report available to the doctor over a secure Web portal.
