Boyd Cycling, a wheel manufacturing company based in Greenville, SC, was born out of a passion for cycling and 10 years of cycling design engineering.

The company’s craft wheels are made from high quality carbon fiber and shipped throughout the world, working to improving the industry of cycling. The shape of the rims, spacing of bearings and type of materials used in the wheels are all critical elements in the overall design.

Boyd Johnson and his wife, Nicole, created the company in 2009 and today have more than 6,000 customers worldwide and stock racing wheels in more than 150 bike shops.

The company was accepted into SCRA’s SC Launch Program in 2015 and received an SC Launch, Inc. investment in 2015. The investment was used to purchase a lacing machine to improve efficiencies in the organization.

The company has been recognized by national and international industry publications for their innovations. In 2016, Boyd Cycling was recognized by SC Department of Commerce with the Export Achievement award for the state.

“Our team is imperative to our success. We can’t do it on our own. Owning a business, you have to understand that you need people.” – Nicole Johnson
