About Tony Philipp:
Currently, Mr. Philipp is actively involved in investing in new technology companies in the South East, including, founder of JR BREWtech (IOT beer brewing tech), serving as a board member of the Charlotte Angel Fund, a limited partner in the Idea Fund II ;and an investor in Revtech Labs.
In 2015, Tony Philipp founded adsLOCAL, which provides a 3D mobile marketing solution that increases engagement with NEW and CURRENT customers, by combining SMS/text, mobile web, and phone calls. Previously, he was the CEO of UpSnap Services, a leader in mobile entertainment and advertising services. Leveraging his experience in the online search industry, Mr. Philipp has been at the forefront in the development of search, interactive advertising, and content delivery in the mobile space, since 1996. In 2008, Mr. Philipp successfully completed a merger and management buy-out of the NASDAQ traded Upsnap Inc. In 2011, he sold Upsnap Services to Call Genie (TSX: VVX)
Mr. Philipp has successfully grown several Internet companies to significant revenues and market share, including Lycos Europe, Vivisimo and Magellan. He is the former chief operating officer of Lycos Europe (IPO 2000 $5 billion) and has also served as an advisor or board member to several companies, such as, Mobileway (Largest global SMS aggregator in the world, sold to Sybase for $400 M), Mobilecommerce.co.uk and Motricity and has been responsible for strategic partnerships with several media companies, including: Disney, Google, Yahoo, Bertelsmann, AOL, Grolier, etc.
Tony holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Clemson University, a master of International Business (MBA) from the University of South Carolina, and was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Cologne (Germany).
